Workspaces and teams
A workspace holds projects, findings and tokens, and it has its own plan. Everyone has a personal workspace of their own, and a team works together in a team workspace. You can belong to any number of workspaces, with a role in each.
Your personal workspace#
Atmos creates your personal workspace the first time you sign in to the platform. Nobody else can join it, and it is deleted only together with your account. It can be on Free or on Pro.
Make a team workspace#
A team starts from the personal workspace of its first owner, on Pro. In that workspace, open Settings, then Workspace, and click Invite member. Name the team and click Make it a team. The workspace takes the team name and keeps everything in it, the subscription and your CLI sign-ins included. Atmos then creates another personal workspace for you, on Free.
Before you invite people, add seats for them under Settings, Usage and billing. The pricing page explains seats.
On Free, the button reads Upgrade to Pro to invite people.
Invite people#
Owners and admins invite people to a team workspace from Settings, Workspace, with Invite member: enter the email address and pick a role. Atmos emails the invitation, and the invited person also finds it under Invitations in the account menu of the platform. The link in the email works once and expires after 7 days. Pending invitations are listed on the Invitations tab of the members list, where an owner or admin can resend or revoke one.
Accepting an invitation opens the workspace you joined. You stay a member of every other workspace you belong to.
Roles#
| Role | What it can do |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything an admin can do, plus billing and the GitHub connection. Owners rename and delete the workspace and make other people owners. |
| Admin | Invites and removes members, manages projects and Workspace Tokens, plus everything a member can do. The Workspace Tokens an admin or owner created stop working when they become a member or viewer. |
| Member | Triages findings and signs in the CLI to scan into the workspace. |
| Viewer | Reads projects and findings. |
Switch workspaces#
The workspace menu at the top of the sidebar lists every workspace you belong to, with your role in each. Pick one to switch to it, and the platform remembers the choice in this browser. A link to a project or a finding in another of your workspaces switches to that workspace when you open it.
The workspace a CLI sign-in scans into#
Each CLI sign-in scans into one workspace, the one you choose when you approve it in the browser. When you are a member, admin or owner in more than one workspace, the approval page lists them under Scan into, with the workspace open in the platform selected. Scans from that machine go only to that workspace, with your current role there. atmos whoami prints the workspace.
To scan into another workspace, run atmos login again. A viewer cannot approve a sign-in. When the workspace is deleted, or you leave it or someone removes you, scans from that machine stop with a message that says to run atmos login. A Workspace Token always scans into the workspace it was created in.
Leave a workspace#
Open Settings, then Workspace, and click Leave workspace. You lose access to its projects and findings at once, and the Workspace Tokens you created there stop working. An owner can invite you again. The last owner of a workspace cannot leave it: make another member an owner first, or delete the workspace. Your personal workspace has no Leave, because it goes with your account.
Delete a workspace#
An owner deletes a team workspace under Delete workspace in Settings, Workspace, by typing its name. Every member loses access at once, Workspace Tokens and CLI sign-ins for the workspace stop working, and the GitHub connection is released. A Pro subscription ends at once, with no refund for the rest of the current period, and every owner gets an email.
Projects, findings and scan history are deleted for good after 30 days. Until then, support can restore the workspace on Free: write to support@atmoslab.dev. A personal workspace is deleted only with your account.
Delete your account#
Open Settings, then Account, and click Delete account. Before you confirm, the dialog lists what happens to each of your workspaces:
- Deleted with your account: your personal workspace and every team you own with nobody else in it. A Pro subscription on them ends at once, and their projects, findings and scan history are deleted for good after 7 days.
- Workspaces you leave: they keep running without you, and the Workspace Tokens you created there stop working.
- Hand these over first: a team where you are the only owner and other people are members. Make someone else an owner, or remove the other members, then delete your account.
Type your email address to confirm. You are signed out everywhere, every CLI sign-in included, and the deletion cannot be undone.
How long scan history is kept#
Atmos keeps the record of each scan and the report it uploaded for a period set by the plan of the workspace, then removes them. Findings are not part of scan history, and they stay on the Findings page with their triage.
A Free workspace that goes a long time without a scan, and an account that goes a long time without a sign-in or a scan, are deleted after an email notice. A scan or a sign-in before the date in the email keeps them. Section 8 of the Terms sets out the periods and the full rule.
